As part of the centre court redevelopment, architects Populous hired us to create lighting schemes for the new cafes, bars restaurants and exterior spaces within the AELTC complex.
Several different levels of F&B are offered, each one requiring a different lighting approach.
The café can also be used as an indoor short-tennis court during non-championship times, so the ceiling is formed of a backlit stretched-fabric membrane which is tough enough to withstand the fastest of serves. The top floor restaurant (for debenture holders and VIPs) has a much more classical feel thanks to the decorative pendants above the bar, and accented artwork and niches.
“Firefly brought a contemporary edge and simple, effective lighting solutions to the redevelopment of this traditional establishment. Working closing with us, their work enhances the atmosphere that is unmistakably Wimbledon” – Populous.
