Chrysan was the first restaurant from Michelin-starred Japanese chef Yoshihiro Murata to be located outside of Japan.
Kyoto-based designers Kohseki and sculptor Kisa Kawakami, we created
a lighting scheme with both a tradition Japanese feel, by lighting
through shoji screens and suspended ‘propellers’ and also a
contemporary edge with modern construction details such as the
concealed lighting within the bar and reception desk.
We were also mindful of the large amount of daylight entering the space, and the opportunity to create very different feel as the daylight fades.
